German politicians are required to publish any income they earn besides their parliamentary duties. But this data is hidden away on the parliament website, hard to search and very abstract.
OpenDataCity had been making this data more accessible for a while, but a long data table and a few bar charts didn’t really convey the massive differences between the factions, genders and federal states. My interactive, filterable visualisation for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reveals who earns the most.
